This Association was formed in 1987 by lawyers in Simcoe County whose practice centered on or was exclusively that of criminal law. The membership of the Association over the years has grown and includes members whose offices are throughout the County. Regrettably, because of the satellite court system (with Criminal Courts of the Ontario Court of Justice operating not just in Barrie, but also in Bradford, Collingwood, Midland and Orillia) the Association has been dominated by the members whose offices are in the County seat of Barrie. Having said that, the exchange of information and concerns in face to face conversations or by telephone or email has permitted the Association to proceed and address issues of concern to criminal lawyers throughout the County in representations to Bar and Bench Committees dealing with court administration at the Superior and Ontario Courts.

The mission of this Association is to advance the interests of the Criminal Bar and as well to participate in local initiatives and consultations as to court administration and procedures and, to be a voice for representation of our members, either collectively or individually, as the issue or cause may require.
